PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN and Valeo sign technology innovation plan
.
Paris, Dec. 2, 1999 - PSA Peugeot Citroën and Valeo, partners for many years, have decided to strengthen their technical collaboration by signing a technology innovation plan.

The plan, which covers nearly all Valeo activities, will enable in-depth research to be carried out on projects designed to improve:
.
Thermal management in vehicles, including cabin comfort.
Mechanisms for vehicle access systems.
Lighting systems and driver vision.
Fuel consumption and environmental protection.
Active safety and comfort for Peugeot and Citroën vehicles.

Commenting on the agreement, Robert Peugeot, PSA Peugeot Citroën Innovation and Quality Director, said, "We are dedicated to offering our customers high-quality, state-of-the-art products. The combination of our two companies’ talents and resources in specially targeted activities is a good illustration of our drive for growth and innovation."

Jean Wolff, PSA Peugeot Citroën Engineering and Purchasing Director, remarked, "This agreement provides an excellent framework for clarifying and redefining our longstanding technical and commercial relations with Valeo." Noël Goutard, Valeo Chairman and CEO, added, "This cooperation is a concrete expression of our determination to support automakers in their technological progress, aimed at satisfying motorists while meeting the strictest requirements."

For PSA Peugeot Citroën and Valeo, this agreement reflects a common desire to offer customers vehicles with optimized performance in terms of reliability, safety and comfort.

German Museum Transport Centre: BMW Group becomes a partner
.
Munich, Dec. 3, 1999 - Making Munich a competence centre for mobility. This is the joint aim of a partnership between the German Museum and the BMW Group, the contract for which was signed today.

Professor Dr Wolf Peter Fehlhammer, Director General of the German Museum, and Dr Heinrich Heitmann, Member of the Board of Directors of the BMW Group today signed a long term partnership contract at the German Museum, which makes BMW a founder member.

In June 2000 BMW will open an initial exhibition at Theresienhöhe - in Hall 3 of the new Transport Centre, which itself is the subject of a preservation order, the automotive manufacturer will open an exhibition entitled "Clean Energy - driving a car with the sun and water", which will be a global project.

The exhibition by the BMW Group points far into the future, which has already become reality within BMW. In an area of over 3000 square metres, it allows visitors to experience first hand how the absolutely environment friendly system of this regenerative fuel could work in just a few years time. It is the first special exhibition in the new Transport Centre at the German Museum, which BMW supports as a founder member. In October 2001, the permanent exhibition will then open its doors in the historic exhibition halls at the former Munich Exhibition Centre. As part of the global Expo 2000 project, Hall 3 will show the prospects for clean energy - fascinating exhibits, exciting information displays and informative worlds of experience, which includes an oversized water droplet, to show impressively how we can secure individual mobility into the next century. Whilst the interested visitor can dip further into the theory of a hydrogen system, children can experience the future in a fun way.

But BMW engineers are not satisfied with the theoretical exhibition of clean energy. with a small group of several BMW 7 Series hydrogen cars, they are currently proving in and around Munich that the vision of the completely emission-free automobile (only water vapour comes out of the exhaust) has already become reality on our roads.

Another part of the partnership agreed between the German Museum and the BMW Group is that BMW will be permanently represented in the "Mobility and Engineering" hall, even after the opening of the Transport Centre at the end of 2001, with a range of changing special exhibitions.

The German Museum is looking for more founder members for the Transport Centre from industry and trade, primarily from the transport and mobility sectors.
