Peter Davis Joins GM Design Center

WARREN, Mich, July 10, 1999 - Peter B. Davis, who contributed to the design of Opel's successful Omega and Vectra models of the 1980s, is returning to General Motors (NYSE: GM) after a decade with Fiat. Davis joins GM Design on August 1 as an Interior Design Executive reporting to William Scott, director, Interior Design Quality. Davis' responsibilities will include incorporating high technology elements into GM vehicle interiors. He will also promote the growth of supplier integration and guide improvements to GM interior design operations.

As design director at Fiat from 1993 to 1998, Davis led the development of the Fiat Multipla Minivan, the Bravo-Brava, and the Punto, a global car produced in Brazil. He served as assistant studio chief of Interior Design at Opel from 1985 to 1989. Davis is a 1981 graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

 

DaimlerChrysler to Sell 32.4 Percent of debitel to Swisscom - Swisscom pays Euro 32 per debitel share shareholders

Stuttgart, July 9, 1999 - DaimlerChrysler plans to sell 32.4 percent of its holding in the telecommunications company debitel AG to Swisscom AG, Bern (Switzerland) and will continue to hold the remaining 10% of debitel for a limited period of time. The sale is subject to approval by the DaimlerChrysler Supervisory Board, which will take a decision on this issue at its meeting on Friday, July 9, 1999, and subject to approval by antitrust.

 

Andrew Eggleston Elected Vice President Marketing, Ford Of Europe

COLOGNE, Germany, July 5, 1999 - Andrew Eggleston has been elected Vice President Marketing, European Sales & Service for Ford of Europe. To be based at Warley, in Britain, he succeeds Jonathan Browning. Prior to his new appointment Mr Eggleston was with EDS/A.T. Kearney, most recently as Principal in the Global Automotive Practice with special responsibility for corporate and business unit strategy.

Born in England, Mr Eggleston, 43, holds a Joint Honours degree in Modern Languages and Linguistics from the University of Oxford as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Cranfield.
