Ultimate Mustang hits the street -

| The fastest, best-handling Mustang ever will soon find its way
to a small number of enthusiast customers. Three hundred SVT Cobra 'R' models roll off the
Dearborn Assembly Plant production line this month, and will soon hit select SVT-certified
Ford dealer showrooms. Cobra R is a limited-production, street-legal race-prepared version
of the best-selling Ford Mustang. Cobra R features a 5.4L DOHC V-8 producing 385 bhp and
385 ft.-lb. of torque. For the racetrack, Cobra R has larger wheels and tires, an
SVT-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and Recaro racing seats. The radio and air
conditioning system have been removed along with the rear seat to reduce weight for
racing. The 2000 SVT Cobra R is the third generation 'R' model, which first appeared in
1993 and then again in 1995. (March 23, 2000) |
