WOODCLIFF LAKE, NEW JERSEY - BMW of North America, Inc. reported an
increase of 16.3 percent in sales for the first nine months of 2000,
with 135,257 vehicles compared to 116,308 automobiles sold in the same
period a year ago. BMW also reported September sales of 14,494, a 30
percent increase over 11,126 sales in September 1999.
Automobile sales
Automobile sales increased 3 percent year-to-date, to 119,728
compared to 116,308 in 1999. BMW reported automobile sales of 11,376 for
September, compared to 11,126 a year ago, an increase of 2 percent.
Sports Activity Vehicle Sales
The company also reported September Sports Activity Vehicle sales of
3,118, an increase of 32 percent over August sales. Year-to-date, BMW
reported SAV sales of 15,529. The BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle is sold
at 315 authorized BMW SAV centers nationwide.
Certified Pre-owned Vehicle Sales
Certified Pre-owned (CPO) vehicle sales were strong in September, too.
BMW reported monthly sales of 3,530, up 25 percent over last year.
Year-to-date, sales of CPO BMWs jumped more than 70 percent to 34,838.
